Katrin Fridriks (born in 1974 in Reykjavik, Iceland)

Fridriks fuses the natural energies of her native Iceland with a clever and unseen abstract expressionism and Japanese calligraphic details filtered through conceptual installations. Working in the vein of pioneer Jackson Pollock however with an enhanced precision and technique, her pictorial substance envelops space, shape and time. The essence of her unique visual language, emphasized by a tireless work on matter and technique, radiates from a self-taught urban iconoclast. Katrin casts a new light on our society and its dynamics. Creating new perspectives, Fridriks’ work brings an innovative dimension to abstraction.
Fridriks exhibits in Berlin, London, New York, Los Angeles… and has previously received grant support and high-profile commissions: 2011 – Goss Michael Foundation for “MTV Re:Define” project, 2010 – Ralph Lauren Foundation for “Art Stars” project, 2009 – Land Rover’s 60th anniversary, 2008 – Biennial of Liverpool, 2007 – French Government to create an 80m² fresco for the Olympic Stadium of Nîmes… Katrin currently lives and works between Paris and Luxembourg.
